BATURU is an international non-governmental organisation dedicated to advancing democracy, equality, women's rights, and LGBTQ+ rights through the power of creative media.
Established in 2013, we believe that film, comics, and the arts are profound catalysts for challenging outdated gender norms and dismantling socially constructed barriers. To drive this change, BATURU provides a global platform for filmmakers and artists to showcase works that highlight the discrimination faced by women and the LGBTQ+ community from a diverse range of perspectives.
Supported by UN Women and various international embassies, our mission is rooted in action. We host festivals, exhibitions, and forums that elevate the visibility of gender equality issues. By merging art with advocacy, these events foster public understanding, spark critical dialogue, and invigorate the global movement for equal rights.
